Faculty and students in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering conduct research that aims to: improve access across the globe to clean water; unsnarl traffic congestion; help design intelligent transportation systems; improve the crash-worthiness of cars, including electric vehicles; and design bridges that are more earthquake-resistant.
