October 24, 2016

C-SPAN recently aired a congressional debate between candidates for Virginia’s 10th District, at which Congresswoman Barbara Comstock (R-VA 10th District) mentioned people working on “new technology like we have at George Washington University” to relieve traffic congestion.  Her comment referred to research conducted by Dr. Samer Hamdar’s lab.  Congresswoman Comstock had previously visited Prof. Hamdar’s instrumented vehicle lab at the Virginia Science and Technology Campus and was impressed by their work on congestion mitigation, connected and automated vehicles, driver and pedestrian behavior modeling, and traffic safety.  (Video clip)
