CEE students win top awards at the SEAS Student R&D Showcase

CEE students Boxiao Cao and Mohamed ElGhoraiby took home top honors in the graduate research categories at the 2018 SEAS Student R&D Showcase.  Boxiao, who is advised by Dr. Tianshu Li, won First Place in the Graduate Student Theoretical Research category for the poster “Formation of 2D Ice Confined by Hydrophobic Nanopore.”  Mohamed won First Place in the Graduate Student Experimental Research category for his poster, “Laboratory Characterization of a Liquefiable Soil.”  He is advised by Dr. Majid Manzari.

Also winning in the Graduate Student Theoretical Research category was Ali Gerami Matin, who tied for a Runner-up award with his poster, “CSFEM for Large Deformation of Solids: From Hilbert Complexes to Numerical Stability.”  Ali is advised by Dr. Arzhang Angoshtari.

The CEE department congratulates Boxiao, Mohamed, and Ali, and thanks all of the CEE graduate and undergraduate students who participated in this year’s Showcase.
