CEE alumnus Nick Paleologos visits SEH high bay

April 15, 2019

On Monday April 8, Nick Paleologos, a CEE alumnus and founder of Miller and Long DC Inc., visited the high bay facility at the Science and Engineering Hall to watch the ongoing testing on shear wall systems and beam-column connections designed to resist earthquake loads. These experimental activities are sponsored by a National Science Foundation grant and a private consulting company. Mr. Paleologos met with CEE faculty Dr. Pedro Silva (PI of the NSF grant), and Drs. Majid Manzari and Sameh Badie. Dr. Silva gave a brief overview of the ongoing experimental activities and their significance to the structural engineering community.

Mr. Paleologos has been a strong supporter of SEAS through his generous donations that have allowed SEAS to fully equip the high bay facility and to support undergraduate students interested in conducting research at SEAS.
